Three young people came to us. We did not know them or anything about them. Suddenly they said that they were envoys of the Moscow Executive, sent to carry out its decisions. The decision was to fight against us. They were to fight not only against Sannerz and the Bruderhof, but Communism was to fight against all attempts at community and brotherhood settlements like ours.
"When the presidium has the power in its hands, you with all your endeavors will be stood up against the wall . . . ." They spoke of the last holy battle. "Finally, when we have beheaded all the opponents of the presidium and all capitalists, all the bigwigs, then justice and peace will come. Then WE will live in community like you."
Unfortunately this is a point of view that we cannot believe. Our attitude to Communism is under no circumstances to submit to it; we could never wish to make common cause with blood and dirt. These are the reasons why we can vote neither for the National Socialists nor for the Communists.
It is impossible to fight for moral ends with immoral means. It is impossible to serve the truth with lies. It is impossible to attain unity through dirt and filth. It is impossible to wash a white sheet of paper clean with a half-clean half-dirty mixture.
We declare that we are opposed to it and say, "Down with this kind of Communism." We met this Communism once before in the history of our Bruderhof movement, when some Communists got very excited and fanatical against us. We had a meeting in which the Communist leader told us, "What your brotherhood movement is living out is what our Communist politics is aiming at. . . ."
The German Communist Party has a terrible history, and it has introduced a policy of lies against people who think differently, against people who have faith. . . .

... Es waren drei junge Menschen zu uns gekommen – wir kannten sie gar nicht – in unser Haus, Menschen, von denen wir nichts gehört haben. Mit einem Mal sagten sie, dass sie Gesandte der Moskauer-Executive seien, die nach aussen hin die Ausübung der Beschlüsse in die Hand zu nehmen hätten. Der Beschluss gegen uns zu kämpfen. Nicht nur gegen Sannerz und Bruderhof – alle Gemeinschaftsbestrebungen und Bruderschafts-Siedlungen wie die unsrige müssen bekämpft werden vom Kommunismus.
„Wenn das Präsidium die Macht in die Hand bekommen hat, dann werdet Ihr an die Wand gestellt mit Eueren Bestrebungen“ ... Sie sprachen von der letzten heiligen Schlacht. „Am Ende, wenn wir alle die Gegner des Präsidium und alle Kapitalisten, alle grossen Köpfe geköpft haben, dann wird die Gerechtigkeit, der Friede kommen. Dann werden wir so in Gemeinschaft leben wie Ihr.“
Das ist leider eine Ansicht, der man nicht glauben kann. Unsere Stellung zum Kommunismus ist, dass wir uns unter keinen Umständen dem Kommunismus unterwerfen würden, mit Blut und Dreck uns nicht verbinden wollen. Dies sind die Gründe, aus denen wir weder nationalistisch noch kommunistisch wählen konnten.

Es ist unmöglich durch unsittliche Mittel sittliche zu erkämpften! Es ist unmöglich durch Lügen der Wahrheit zu dienen! Es ist unmöglich durch Dreck und Schmutz zur Vereinigung zu gelangen! Es ist unmöglich ein weisses Blatt schmutzig rein zu waschen.
Wir erklärten uns als Gegner, und wir sagen: „Nieder mit diesem Kommunismus.“ Wir sind in unserer Geschichte unserer Bruderhof-Bewegung schon einmal mit diesen Kommunisten zusammengestossen, dass Kommunisten gegen uns in fanatische Erregung gelangt sind. Wir hatten eine Versammlung, wo uns die Kommunisten-Führer sagten, „was eure Bruderschafts-Bewegung auslebt, ist das, was unsere kommunistische Politik erstrebt. ...“
Auch die KPD (Kommunistische Partei Deutschlands) hat eine schreckliche Geschichte. Sie hat ferner eine Lügenpolitik gegen andersdenkende Menschen, gegen gläubige Menschen in die Wege geleitet ...
